Job Description

The Senior Social Worker is responsible for facilitating change and improving the lives of individuals, families, community facing transitional challenges through the provision of direct services.

 

He / She will act professionally at all times and be accountable to the client and the organization to ensure that intervention plans are developed and  implemented according to professional judgment and knowledge.

 

Additionally, he / she will supervise social workers and ensure that services are delivered in accordance with organisation standards, he / she will also be responsible for handling high risk client cases.

Casework Management

Deliver quality casework and counselling services to clients

  • To conduct intake independently
  • To make a professional judgement based on social work assessment
  • To develop intervention plans
  • To implement intervention plans
  • To follow through intervention plans
  • To evaluate intervention plans

Community Outreach, Group Work, Service/ Programme Development

Deliver effective programmes, including but not limited to groupwork, community outreach, research

  • To work closely with Lead Social Worker or Centre Director to plan a holistic suite of programmes that are customised to the needs of the clients in the immediate area of influence
  • To identify resources (manpower, budget, partners & etc) needed for the delivery of programmes
  • To ensure smooth implementation of programmes
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of the programmes
  • To synergise team
  • To mediate team

Supervision and Training

Provide casework and counselling supervision

  • To meet Social Workers periodically (at least once a month) to discuss cases under their care
  • To ensure that intervention plans developed and implemented by social workers are according to professional judgement and knowledge
  • To support social workers to deal with crisis cases
  • To verify and ensure the relevant content in CSR put up by social workers
  • To coach Social Workers in proper social report writing
  • To ensure social workers act professionally at all times
  • To ensure social workers to be accountable to the clients

Research

  • To particpate in research, e.g. conducting survey and data mining

Ad-hoc Duties

  • To provide any other support as assigned/required

Job Requirements

Qualifications (Accreditation)

  • A graduate with a recognised degree
  • Must be Registered Social Worker/ Counsellor/Practitioner
  • Certification in specialised area

Experience

  • At least 4 years’ social work experience
  • Prior supervisory experience would be advantageous
  • More than 1 year of involvement in specialised and relevant area

Knowledge and Skills

  • People oriented: The ability to work with different groups; supervisee, partners
  • Communications: Excellent oral, written and inter-personal communications skills in dealing with individuals and groups at all levels
  • Planning: The ability to contribute towards C&C and programme planning
  • Management: The ability to develop effective and realistic workplans
  • Industry: Knowledge of various policies, assistance schemes, and procedures related to the delivery of C&C services and programmes
  • Analytical Ability & Problem Solving: The ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly and accurately and to formulate decisions and make recommendations
